Trump Warns U.S. Could Take Direct Action Over Iran Nuclear Materials
By: Jane Ephraim
U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that the United States could take direct action against Iran if diplomatic efforts to secure nuclear-related materials fail.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One after his visit to China, Trump suggested that Washington remained prepared to intervene if negotiations do not produce results.
“Either we’ll go in or we’ll get it,” Trump said, while expressing hope that a peaceful resolution could still be achieved.
The president noted that although the U.S. would prefer diplomacy over military action, force remained an option if ongoing efforts prove unsuccessful.
Trump also described Iran as “completely defeated,” claiming the country no longer poses a major threat to U.S. operations in the region.
In his remarks, he referred to America’s capability to handle what he called “nuclear dust,” suggesting that only a few countries possess such expertise. He added that China may also have similar capabilities.
The U.S. president further commented on the recent ceasefire involving Iran, saying he initially had reservations about the agreement. According to him, the truce followed appeals from other countries, including Pakistan.
The comments come amid continued tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme and broader regional security concerns.
Despite ongoing diplomatic engagements and mediation efforts, Trump’s latest remarks indicate that the possibility of escalation remains if negotiations fail to produce a breakthrough.
Analysts say the future of U.S.-Iran relations will largely depend on whether both countries continue diplomatic talks or move toward further confrontation.
