The statistics were released to mark Palestinian Children’s Day and were cited by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA. They break down as follows: 1.38 million children reside in the West Bank and 1.09 million in the Gaza Strip.
Rising Casualties
By the end of 2025, at least 72,289 Palestinians had been killed in Gaza, including 21,283 children — accounting for about 30 percent of the total fatalities. The impact has extended beyond direct military operations, with 157 children reported to have died from hunger and 25 from extreme cold in displacement camps. Around 44,486 children have been injured, comprising roughly 26 percent of all injuries.
Health and Humanitarian Conditions
More than 10,500 children are suffering from severe, long-term injuries, while approximately 4,000 remain at risk due to restricted access to healthcare. United Nations data indicates that over 3,700 children have been hospitalized for malnutrition. About 64 percent of children face food shortages, and more than 60 percent of those aged six to 23 months suffer from acute nutritional deprivation.
Arrests and Rights Concerns
Human rights groups have documented a surge in violations against Palestinian children, especially in the West Bank. Since the war on Gaza began, Israeli forces have detained more than 1,655 children, including around 600 in 2025 alone, according to prisoner advocacy organizations. Reports describe harsh detention conditions and limited access to basic rights.
Psychological Impact
The prolonged conflict has inflicted a heavy psychological toll, with over 1.1 million children experiencing trauma. An estimated 58,000 children in Gaza have lost one or both parents, intensifying social and economic hardships.
The PCBS report underscores the long-term dangers facing Palestinian children, including severely limited access to healthcare, education, and essential services amid the ongoing Israeli aggression.

Well-done ✌️
